Ferry Pool

There are some tributaries in the Grand Canyon that have delightful grottos and pools all the way down the drainage. This is one of those stunning places. I took this image while rappelling through this canyon from above to the Colorado River, but the Ferry Pool can also be reached with some delicate climbing up from below too. The source of the water is a spring in the Muav limestone. As this water travels down the canyon it eventually enters the Tapeast Sandstone which seems to burst with color and monkey flower whenever water arrives. The waterfall visible here is 25’ tall and the large chokestone above the waterfall is the size of a recreational vehicle. The pool is quite deep and this remains one of my favorite swimming holes on hot day.
